I am so excited! My alter-ego and I have been in the book business for a lot of years, buying, selling and generally loving, and at times not-so-loving, textbooks. Now, I get to sound-off whenever I like about college textbooks and the textbook industry, while providing hopefully helpful info. What a treat!
For starters, I’d like mention three of my favorite recent titles:
If you’ve ever taken Biology, chances are excellent that you bumped into a biology textbook by Campbell. This is an extremely popular book, probably because it makes the subject so incredibly clear. It has many, many pictures, diagrams and illustrations.
This spiral-bound annual by the American Medical Association is a classic on medical services and procedures. Some reviews find it extremely easy to read and others more difficult. That’s probably more of a reflection the student reader than the book. The online testing component is a great way to sharpen your ability to pass the tests associated with this text.
Known for its readability, Community Public Health Nursing maintains an ingenious focus on the nurse’s perspective and practical insight into every day public health scenarios and issues. This excellent nursing textbook gets our highest rating. If this book doesn’t impress upon you the need to frequently wash your hands, nothing will!
